The Regional Province of Enna, in partnership with the Region of Madrid, the group of municipalities of Podravje ( Slovenia ) and the Province of Benevento , has been provided financial support for a project within the Communitarian Program of Intelligent Energy (decision n.1230/03 Guce L 176 of the 15.07.03) for the creation of a Local Energy and Environment Agency.
The idea to create a Local Agency for Energy and Environment of the Province of Enna results from the need to recoup the strong energetic deficit of the territory. In the territory of the Province of Enna are present 9 artificial reservoirs, some of them in condition to produce hydroelectric energy.
Furthermore there are planned investments in the field of biomass and more the carrying out of an incinerator of urban solid waste. Finally, requests and investments in air generators are numerous and consequently  for the realisation of Aeolian systems. All this needs the presence of a territorial Agency, autonomous, able to promote, coordinate and plan the arranged and existing activities, improving the energetic efficiency, the autonomy of the territorial system and the reduction of  environment risks.
